| Reminders Get ready to get dirty!!! Our general church cleanup will be on Saturday, August 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. We have a large project where many hands are needed, two other projects that will require strength and stamina, and a number of smaller projects that anyone can do. We hope you can join us in stewarding God's facility! Labor Day Picnic: This year we will be joining the Honolulu Christian Church for our annual Labor Day Picnic. It will be held on Monday, September 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Manoa Park. See the poster on the bulletin board for more information along with the sign-up sheet. Doing Church as a Team (DCAT): For the last 4 Sundays in August, Pastor Stan will be giving a series of messages designed to help us better serve our Lord as a Church. This series will be capped by a "mini-conference" called Doing Church as a Team on Saturday morning, September 13, 8:30 - 12:30 at the church. This conference, patterned after New Hope's excellent conference by the same name, is really a hands-on workshop to help each of us understand how we can serve our Lord more effectively together. Got Vision? Then you may be just the person we are looking for. Your Board of Deacons would like to establish a Vision Committee to take the lead in seeking and pursuing the large directions God has for WOCC. If you are the visionary type, if you have a heart to hear God's leading for the Church, we'd like you to consider being a part of this team. If interested, please contact Pastor Stan. Calling all handymen (and women). God needs you at WOCC! We are developing a team of people with abilities in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, mechanics, glass, metals, gardening, painting ... just about anything. This team will be called upon to help keep our facilities in good working order and to do upgrades now and then. If God has blessed you with these types of skills and you would like to help out, please see Pastor Stan so that your name can be added to the list. Prayer Request: At the Ordained Ministerial Body (OMB) meeting in July, it was approved that an ordination committee be set up for Pastor Stan. The process includes questions, interviews, appraisals, a paper ad sermon recordings over the next few months. Would you pray that God will see Stan successfully through this process if it is His will? If things work out, the target date of Pastor Stan's ordination will be next summer. Crisis Ministry & Policy: In order to help people in need, in an orderly way, the WOCC Deacons have been working on setting up a new ministry to assist those with financial and material needs. It is not complete yet, but in the meantime, if someone expresses to you that they have such needs, please inform one of the pastors and they will try to help. |
